So, here's my misadventure of the day-- or the most prominent one anyway, because my day has been filled with all of the usual blunders, including faceplanting on the ice more than once and the embarrassing things I do on a daily basis at work.

The two-mile walk home from work is a drudge and I decide to take The Shortcut. Usually when it starts getting dark early (like it has) I walk along the main road, and only in the summer do I go along the shorter way across the fields and down the country lane. So, there was a thread on the NaNo forums asking about what people's 50,000th word was, the word that got them over the finish line. My version of Word doesn't have a counter at the bottom, so I highlighed it and hit word count and then continued to move up and down until I found 50,000.

My 50,000th word?
